Field Trips at the Bug Zoo™!
The Victoria Bug Zoo™ offers discounted admission rates to school groups and other community organizations. During the group’s visit an entomologist (bug scientist) will introduce the group to some of the world’s most fascinating “bugs”, answer questions and provide a safe animal handling experience (for the more adventurous individuals in the group). There are over 40 LIVE (mostly tropical) species on display, including amazing Shaking Leaf insects, the world’s longest walkingstick insect, giant Katydids, gorgeous Praying Mantids, Giant Hairy Tarantulas, Glow-in-the-Dark Scorpions, Deadly Black Widows, and a fascinating Leaf-cutter Ant Farm from Trinidad. The tour offers lots of hands-on interaction and photo opportunities so bring your camera! A picture of the teacher holding the Giant African Millipede is one for the class album!
Admission is $4 per person (plus GST = $4.24); minimum of $100 for the group (up to 20 kids and 2 adults). Payment must be made in one lump sum and can be paid in advance or at the time of arrival (a Visa or MC number is required to hold the reservation). A $30 fee applies to "no-shows" and late cancellation. Group visits can be booked any time during open hours. Please make your reservation through Carol. Reservations are required for groups and it is recommended that you book early for year-end field trips (April, May and June). The tour is one hour long (plus extra if souvenir shopping is desired). (We offer a Party Room program with the bugs and a tour guide in the summer.)

Parking is available for busses on Humboldt and Blanshard st. and for cars across the street from the zoo in the Broughton Street Parkade, or on the street (meters - takes loonies and quarters). There is a drop off zone in front of our front door (just past the totem pole).
